Mission statement

The mission of Leadership Bartholomew County (LBC) is to engage the citizens of Bartholomew County in local issues through dialogue, networking, partnerships, and education to encourage leadership and community service.

LBC Programs

Leadership Bartholomew County engages LBC alumni and Bartholomew County residents in a number of programs each year. The programs and their goals are as follows:

Leadership Class
LBC organizes a leadership class consisting of one full-day and six half-day sessions to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to become effective community leaders and volunteers.

Candidates Forums
Public forums are organized by LBC to give the community the opportunity to learn more about the beliefs, approaches, and skills of candidates for a variety of offices.

Community Issues Forums
LBC organizes forums to give Bartholomew County residents the opportunity to learn more about current community issues.

Board Service Training
LBC organizes and sponsors an annual event to inform community residents about non-profit organizations in Bartholomew County and opportunities to serve as volunteers and/or board members.

History

Leadership Bartholomew County (LBC) is a non-profit organization founded in 1982 with a goal of developing leaders who can help improve the quality of life for county residents. The LBC program has evolved to focus on specific leadership traits needed in the 21st century. Over the past 20 years, nearly 500 Bartholomew County residents have completed the nine-month program, most of whom are or have been active in various community organizations.
